Bosnia and Herzegovina is a unique, nature-rich and culturally diverse
country located in the west Balkans, perfect for adventurers and nature
enthusiasts looking for unforgettable outdoor experiences.
Cycle through beautiful mountain vistas along canyon-bounded rivers and
waterfall-filled national parks. Along the way, we’ll visit some of the
most beautiful small towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Do not miss the
opportunity to experience the warmth and welcoming nature of the local
population and taste some traditional local delicacies, which are things
the area is known for.

This tour offers the following:

       Explore northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina aka the Una-Sana Canton

       Cycle through the Una National Park, the largest national park in
Bosnia and Herzegovina containing stunning waterfalls

       Cycle, walk and swim in the lake off the beaten path on the Šator
mountain, complete with a gorgeous view

       Be amazed by picturesque towns and untouched natural vistas

Note: The Šator mountain (1872 m or 6140 ft) is a mountain located in
northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina with a lake in the center.

KEY INFORMATION:

  • 7 stay-ins (3 stay-ins in hotels, 4 stay-ins in a hostel or wellness center)
  • 6 days or cycling with full automobile support
  • Moderate cycling tempo, 8-10 mph (13-16 km/h) 70% asphalt, 30% picturesque paths

Itinerary

Day 1 Departure from Cazin, transportation to Ostrožac Castle

The journey begins in the afternoon in Cazin, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the main briefing with your guide, we’ll visit the nearby Ostrožac
Castle in Cazin, which dates back to the 13th century, containing a
permanent sculpture installation in the castle yard. After visiting the
Ostrožac Castle, the group will enjoy a welcome dinner in a local
restaurant overlooking the city.
Note: Group flights usually arrive in the early afternoon at Zagreb
International Airport (Croatia) or Banja Luka International Airport
(Bosnia and Herzegovina). The group will be received at the airport and
transferred to a hotel in Cazin. In case the group lands at Sarajevo
International Airport or Mostar International Airport (Bosnia and
Herzegovina), please contact us to arrange transportation. Only clients
should arrive to the hotel in Cazin.

Day 2 Cycling to Bosanska Otoka and Bosanska Krupa

After breakfast, the bicycles will be adjusted to everyone’s comfort and
needs. We start in Cazin and cycle towards Bosanska Otoka. We descend
downstream through the canyon of the river Una. While we wind through
the beautiful canyon, we are followed by the river Una and the old
railroad. After arriving in Bosanska Otoka, lunch will be served in a
resturant by the river. In the afternoon hours, we continue cycling
towards the city of Bosanska Krupa and take a look around the city.
Krupa is known for its multitude of river islands (Adas), which are
accessed by a large wooden footbridge, and the islands themselves are
connected by numerous smaller bridges. The islands hold various
manifestations each day such as barbecuing, live music, sports
activities, etc.

Day 3 Cycling to Bihać, stopping at Sokolac Fortress, continuing cycling to Japod Islands

We depart towards Bihać on a path surrounded by beautiful forests, rich
vegetation and various woodland animals. While cycling, enjoy the
fantastic panoramic view over Bihać and a large part of the Una-Sana
Canton.
Bihać is located along the beautiful river Una and has a rich culture
and history. After sightseeing in Bihać, we set off by bike towards the
Sokolac Fortress, which dates back to the 14th century. Transfer to the
Natura Art ethno village (traditional Bosnian village) where we will
have lunch with a boat ride on the river Una. After visiting the Natura
Art ethno village, we travel to the Japod Islands, which will surely
leave you breathless.

Day 4 Cycling to the Una National Park along the Štrbački buk waterfall. Continuing to Kulen Vakuf

Today we continue our tour towards the Una National Park. The Una
National Park covers an area of 19,800 hectares and was established to
protect the untouched nature around the rivers Una, Krka and Unac. The
Una National Park is characterized by beautiful waterfalls, a network of
river streams, pools, rapids with white water, and the canyons are
surrounded by lush forests with dense vegetation. Cycle through this
diverse national Park and see one of the most beautiful waterfalls,
Štrbački buk. After that, we start cycling towards Kulen Vakuf, where we
will visit the Ostružnica Fortress.

Day 5 Cycling towards Martin Brod, visiting Tito's cave in Drvar, then continuing towards Bosansko Grahovo

Today we are cycling towards Martin Brod. In the picturesque village
there are several waterfalls, traditional water mills and unique
ecosystems for washing clothes called Bučnica. One of the most beautiful
waterfalls is Milančev buk, 54 meters wide, surrounded by several pools
and dense forest. We continue towards Tito’s cave in Drvar, a secret
hideout of the partisan leader of Yugoslavia, Tito during the Second
World War, which is now a museum. We continue towards Bosansko Grahovo.

Day 6Cycling to Šator mountain. Swim in the lake in the center of the mountain. Hiking to the top of Šator mountain

We cycle towards Šator mountain. After 19 kilometers of cycling through
the asphalt, you ride on forest paths towards the mountain. Come to
Šator mountain and enjoy a traditional Bosnian barbecue lunch while
admiring the untouched nature. SPECTACULAR!!! If the weather permits,
you will have an unforgettable experience of swimming at Šator Lake, at
1488 meters above sea level, and/or you can join us in hiking to the
very top of the mountain (1875 m above sea level) where you can enjoy
the view. AMAZING!!! The hike takes approximately two hours.

Day 7 Transfer to Mostar, sightseeing

Now that the cycling is behind us, we will explore the city of Mostar.
The city is known as the pearl of Herzegovina. It is best known for the
famous Old Bridge and the Neretva river. Enjoy a walk along the
cobblestone streets of Mostar, where the architecture is stunning. The
city is a combination of Eastern and Western civilizations with a way of
life that reflects its past. Shop for handmade products from the Ottoman
Empire and taste some of the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian food the area
has to offer. Experience the lively nightlife of the city of Mostar.

Day 8 Tour ends: Transfer to Mostar International Airport

After breakfast, the group will be transported to Mostar International
Airport for departure.
